Play Report

Last session, the party solved a small mystery of villagers going missing and a Witch screaming in the woods; it turned out to be a Witch - incapacitated by a stroke - and her Familiar trying to draw attention to her predicament. They  helped nurse the Witch back to health and put her Familiar - Baalsafoth, Spirit of Hunger - at ease. As a token of her gratitude, the Witch bestowed the party with: A weak healing drought and the recipe to make more A "Water Dart" spell Flaming Blade Oil An Idol of Luck - A small golden statue of a monkey, masturbating; his genitalia is a banana. Interacts with the Sorcerer's miscasts This week I put my players through a small "dungeon" I've mostly finished writing for a zine project headed up by  SunderedWorldDM The party ventured up into the mountains to investigate a rumor about a cave filled with glowing rocks that had caused some of the townsfolk to fall ill. Players are Cunt 1 , Tiefling Druid Xixi 2 , Gnoll Druid Clyde

GLOG Hack

I made a GLOG Hack. It's not done, but I've stopped working on it because it genuinely feels like I could tweak "Just one more thing" for the literal rest of my life. I just wrote this up because I didn't like the way anyone else's hack worked all the way through and wanted some short rules to teach a new to TTRPGs player and introduce more experienced players to the GLOG. The art is not mine, it's just there. This is solely to be used at my home table so the players and I have something easily referenced mid game. Crawl Into A Hole and Fucking Die

Generating Plant Names

Two of my players are Druids and they are able to simply declare they find specific plants to harvest in the local area, [Druid Level] times each day. They have a base chance of [Druid Level] in 4/6/8 if the plants are common, uncommon, or rare. This can also be modified by their favored environ/home turf feature. Recipes take  1D4+1 ingredients for common brews and poultices 1D6+1 ingredients for uncommon concoctions 2D4+2 ingredients for rare mixtures and must have one ingredient from each rarity category within the potion. So, a common potion can't be made with only rare ingredients for example and a rare potion would require at least one ingredient that was common, one that was uncommon, and on that was rare. So a player says they want to make a potion to breathe fire. I say rare and we roll the 2D4+2, for a total of 6 ingredients, then we can roll on the table below to generate some plants in general as well as figure out which specific ones are in the potion. First Name - Adj

Thinking Outside of [Sum] and [Dice]

Trying to differentiate casters by their dice mechanics and really make each class feel  different, to that end I'm brainstorming various things to be done with the dice. Just going to list out everything I can think of and what it is and hope that helps us all find some new ways to use the dice. [Sum] - The sum of all rolled dice [Dice] - The number of dice rolled [Best] - The best result rolled, whether that result be low or high [Multiples] - The number of multiples rolled [Sum of Multiples] -The sum of all dice that rolled the same result [Prime] - The number of dice whose results were a prime number [Sum of Prime] - Sum of all dice whose results were a prime number. Filth Pig's Setting Questions

My own personal setting questions. 1. Is there Blood Magic? Necromancy? Can I start off with these powers or do I have to get them d-d-d-diegetically? Will these things get me hanged/drawn, quartered and burned over water/tortured/burned at the stake? Is your Necromancer working off the "divination from the dead" definition or is it cool? 2. Will my limbs get hacked off? Can I get new limbs? Do they have to be human or can I have monster parts? Is there a class that does all this or is it just an NPC? 3. When was the last plague in the setting and how soon can we expect the next one? Can we swindle people by selling fake plague cures?  4. Cannibalism gives you: A) Kuru, B) Magical Powers, C) Full stomach, D) Yet Another Unexpected Twist ? 5. What's can't I do that isn't super obvious? 1. Yes. Yes. You can  start with Necromancy , but you have to discover Blood Magic on your own and d-d-d-digetically. People might turn a blind eye to Necromancy if you give them g

Nothic's Eye Questions

Answering the questions  Nothic's Eye  wrote.   Which  specific  NPC do I want to piss off the least?  Slaugh, the young witch who leads the coterie of Wild Hunt esque Fae. Which god should I want to piss off the most?  We haven't gotten into gods too much yet, but whoever the largest religion is - I just assume if they're the dominant religion they're kind of assholes and you're going to want to spite them every chance you get. What's the worst thing I could meet at a crossroads?  An incomprehensibly old Fae creature that feeds on guilt and shame and will burrow into your mind like a tape worm until your lived experiences ring hollow? What's the nearest thing that can  utterly destroy me  to your starting town? Or starting town equivalent? Everything.  Dark Souls - if a 1 HD creature can't kill you then the game is lame. Is apotheosis open to my character? If not, why not?  Definitely, just have to earn it d-d-d-diegetically! Find your niche, gather yo

Vayra's Questions

Answering Vayra 's questions. 1) What class knows the most martial arts? Are they real martial arts like kung fu, or made up ones like krav maga? So far, there's no martial artists. I'm not  very into monks or really much that's up that alley so it's just wholly excluded. 2) Can I start out having already made a deal with the devil or do I have to do that in game? You have to do it in-game because I just want an  excuse  to use the word diegetic. I might let you start having already made a deal with a devil, but I really  like  the idea of the  there  generic classes and others only being made available when you've  encountered  them in world.  3) Do you want me to write an 8-page backstory? Can I write an 8-page backstory, if I want to? If I write something down in it like I'm the timelost princess of the brass city and the daughter of the sun and I commanded legions in the Hell War but was betrayed by my father's vizier but I don't know that, or th

Jojiro’s 13 Orthodoxies

Answering Jojiro 's questions. 1.  Question:  Your players arrive in an abandoned city – the first thing they do is enter a home, asking what’s left of the pantry. What do you say to them? Answer : They find the pantry door resists just a bit when trying to open. If they jerk it open, they find a child in dirty, ruined clothing eating something scavenged - rotten food, road kill, insects, etc. 2. Question:  Your players want to talk to a city magistrate about an unpopular idea of theirs. In order to catch the magistrate off-guard, they approach early in the morning. What state do they find the magistrate in? Answer : I’d roll some kind of reaction/luck roll. If it’s good for them, then they catch him in a compromising position; doing something illegal or immoral that they could use for blackmail. If the roll is meh then he’s probably just asleep and won’t be happy that they’re waking him up and wants to make a stink about it. If it’s bad, he’s doing something immoral or illegal, bu
